GV Optometry opened the community in 2017 and hopes to provide excellent service with highly trained staff, advanced equipment, electronic medical recording, and exceptional doctors. GV Optometry is an independent practice located inside Magnolia Center, owned and operated by Dr. Cory Bream and Dr. Carter Andersen.
Dr. Cory Bream
Dr. Cory Bream graduated in the class of 1993 from Southern California College of Optometry; recently renamed Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, California.
Prior to moving to Santa Barbara in 2004, Dr. Bream owned and operated three private practices in Orange County. Since moving, Dr. Bream currently owns and operates Bream Optometry and Goleta Valley Optometry.
She received SB Independent’s “Best of Santa Barbara” award for Best Optometry in 2016. Dr. Bream enjoys spending time outside with her family, including her two teenagers and their boxer, Coco.
Dr. Carter Andersen
Dr. Carter Andersen is also a graduate of Southern California College of Optometry, and has been practicing primary care optometry in Santa Barbara and Goleta since 2011. A native of Santa Barbara, Dr. Andersen is an alumni of both San Marcos High School and UC Santa Barbara. Prior to earning his doctorate degree he completed externships at the Veterans Affairs Hospital and SW Blind Rehabilitation Center in Tucson, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, and The Laser Center in Seattle.
He is licensed to prescribe therapeutic agents, certified to treat glaucoma in patients over 18, and provides co-management for pre- and post-operative care in LASIK and cataract patients. Dr. Andersen loves getting out into the ocean along the beautiful Santa Barbara coastline and enjoys spending time with friends, family, and wife Lauren.
Dr. Debon Crews
Debon Crews, our newest associate optometrist, is returning to California after spending several years in Salt Lake City. She grew up in the Central Valley, attended undergraduate at San Diego State University, and obtained her optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton. After five winters of shoveling snow, she is ready to get back to the beach!
During her fourth year of school, she completed externships at The Laser Center in Seattle, Hoopes Vision in Utah and at the Tucson VA. At the VA she received one of the best compliments of her life, when a patient, a proclaimed horse whisperer, told her she had a nice walk! She was fortunate to live in Puerto Rico for a year, completing a primary care residency, but also eating many pinchos, snorkeling with manatees and practicing her español.
She loves to travel and spent four months earlier this year touring the US in an RV with her two dogs. She also loves snow skiing, riding her scooter and practicing yoga and is aspiring to become a real pirate…uh, sailor.
She is very happy to join the team at Goleta Valley Optometry and to provide quality eye care to the local community.
